Juvenile Intervention Center ( JIC )  Map

The primary purpose of the JUVENILE INTERVENTION CENTER is:
  • To provide law enforcement with a means to process and hold police-referred youth on a short-term basis and release them to their parent, guardian, or responsible adult as appropriate.
  • Designed to help law enforcement officials quickly return to their duties in the community and provide an immediate consequence for the juvenile. The Juvenile Intervention Center admits juveniles between the ages of 8 and 17 years of age for minor delinquent acts or law violations.
  • To admit juveniles who are arrested for (first-time ) committing status offenses, misdemeanors or non-violent felony offenses.
  • To provide for some “priority two” referrals according to juvenile detention guidelines (felony grade malicious acts, crimes against a person or property) that may be eligible for admittance but must be approved by a Juvenile Intervention Center supervisor.
  • NOTE: Juveniles designated as “priority one” referrals (serious habitual acts against a person or acts involving serious weapons charges) are not eligible for admission.

The Juvenile Intervention Center program is a collaborative effort among Crossroads Youth & Family Services, the Office of Juvenile Affairs, the cities of Norman, Moore, Lexington and all law enforcement agencies within the county.
